EFCC Warns Against Planned Protest, Urges Parents to Keep Youths from Being Used

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a statement warning the public about a planned protest against the agency. The protest, allegedly orchestrated by a shadowy group, aims to recruit young Nigerians, including students, to demonstrate against the EFCC’s operations, particularly in enforcing cybercrime laws.

The Commission views this as a ploy by corrupt individuals under investigation or prosecution to incite a national uprising, threatening peace and security. While the EFCC respects citizens’ right to protest, it will not tolerate any breach of law and order, especially around its offices nationwide.

In collaboration with other security agencies, the EFCC is taking necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of Nigeria. The agency appeals to parents, guardians, and educational institutions to prevent their wards from being exploited by corrupt interests.

The EFCC emphasizes that its fight against corruption and cybercrime aims to protect the future of Nigerian youths, which is jeopardized if the country becomes notorious for fraud. The statement, signed by Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity, urges stakeholders to join the EFCC in this crucial battle.
