BONA NAIJAThe Government of Saint Lucia has honoured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria with one of its highest national awards, conferring on him the title of Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia (KCOSL).
The investiture was formally announced by the Governor General of Saint Lucia, acting on behalf of the government and people of the Caribbean nation.
President Tinubu, who also holds the Nigerian national honour of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR), was recognised for his contributions to regional integration, democratic leadership, and advocacy for global South-South cooperation.
The title of Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia is traditionally reserved for individuals who have rendered distinguished service to the island nation or have demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to shared Commonwealth values.
Diplomatic sources say the honour reflects Saint Lucia’s desire to deepen bilateral relations with Nigeria and expand engagement across economic, cultural, and governance platforms.
President Tinubu becomes one of the few African leaders to receive the KCOSL honour, marking a symbolic strengthening of ties between the Caribbean and West African regions.
Further details on the award ceremony and future diplomatic engagements between both nations are expected to be released in the coming days.
