President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Nigeria for a three-day state visit to France, following an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron. The visit, aimed at strengthening political, economic, and cultural relations between the two nations, will take place from Thursday.
During the visit, President Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, will be received by President Macron and his spouse, Brigitte, at the historic Les Invalides and Palais de l’Élysée in Paris. The Nigerian leader’s trip will focus on establishing opportunities for partnerships in key sectors such as:
- Agriculture: Enhancing cooperation in agricultural development and food security.
- Security: Strengthening collaboration on security matters, including counter-terrorism efforts.
- Education: Promoting educational exchanges and collaborations between Nigerian and French institutions.
- Health: Exploring opportunities for cooperation in healthcare development and medical research.
- Youth Engagement and Employment: Fostering initiatives that promote youth development, entrepreneurship, and employment.
- Innovation and Energy Transition: Encouraging cooperation in innovation, renewable energy, and sustainable development.
The two leaders will also engage in bilateral meetings, highlighting shared values on finance, solid minerals, trade, investments, and communication. Additionally, they will witness a session by the France-Nigeria Business Council, which oversees private sector participation in economic development. Top government officials will accompany President Tinubu on the trip.
This visit marks President Tinubu’s third trip to France since assuming office eight months ago.
