The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday commissioned a major infrastructure project in Abuja — the newly completed interchange bridges on Arterial Road N20, popularly known as Wole Soyinka Way.
The bridges, which span the Outer Northern Expressway (Murtala Mohammed Expressway), are part of the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s (FCTA) efforts to improve road infrastructure, ease traffic congestion, and enhance urban mobility across the nation’s capital.
The project commissioning was announced via a brief statement on Wike’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle earlier today.
“This is the newly constructed Interchange Bridges of Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Way) over Outer Northern Expressway (Murtala Mohammed Expressway), Abuja, we are commissioning today,” the statement read.
The newly opened bridges are expected to significantly improve travel time and road safety, especially for commuters navigating northern and central parts of Abuja. The project is one of several strategic infrastructure developments being fast-tracked under Wike’s leadership as part of the FCTA’s urban renewal and transportation agenda.
The Minister had earlier pledged to deliver critical road projects that align with President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” infrastructure vision, promising that the FCTA will not relent in addressing traffic bottlenecks and outdated road designs in the city.
