President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has concluded his official tour of Saint Lucia and Brazil, departing Rio de Janeiro on Saturday aboard a San Marino-registered BBJ aircraft (REG: T7-NAS) at 12:50 pm local time (4:50 pm Nigerian time). He is expected to arrive in Abuja at approximately 2:50 am on Sunday.
The two-week diplomatic trip began with a state visit to Saint Lucia from June 29 to July 4, where Tinubu was conferred with the prestigious title of Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia (KCOSL). He then proceeded to Brazil to participate in the 17th Meeting of the Global South and Emerging Economies, held from July 5 to July 7 in Rio de Janeiro.
This journey marks the latest in President Tinubu’s active international engagement since assuming office in May 2023. In just over a year, the Nigerian leader has embarked on at least 41 foreign trips, visiting 28 countries across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the Caribbean.
His most frequent destination has been France, with six visits, followed by four trips to the UK and three to the UAE. He has also made two visits each to countries including Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Germany, Ethiopia, Ghana, and Guinea-Bissau, while other nations like India, Kenya, China, Qatar, and the USA have each hosted him once.
The foreign visits have spanned a range of diplomatic efforts, including economic summits, bilateral negotiations, ceremonial engagements, and multilateral forums aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s global presence.
President Tinubu’s return to Abuja comes amid growing domestic attention to his administration’s foreign policy strategy and the frequency of his international travels.
