The 2023 vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has defended his meeting with the Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party.
Baba-Ahmed registered a surprise presence during the National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of the Abure-led faction.
This came days after the Senator Nenadi Usman faction also held a NEC meeting in Abuja.
The party’s presidential candidate in 2023, Mr Peter Obi recognises the Usman-led faction.
It was then a surprise to see his then running mate with Abure and his group.
This has fueled speculations of a crack between the duo.
However, while defending his presence at the meeting, Baba-Ahmed said he was there as a peacemaker.
While affirming his membership of the LP, he said: “I have attended and I have listened to the coalition attempts. Yes, I still remain in the Labour Party.
“To the best of our knowledge, H.E. Peter Obi, my boss, is still a member of the Labour Party. He, just like I, attended the coalition talks; but the coalition is not a political party. He has not become a member of ADC.
“There is no crack between Obi and myself. In fact it’s impossible for there to be any crack between us.”It is easier to break the head of APC than for a crack to exist between me and my boss, Peter Obi.”
