South East National Youth Council of Nigeria has Called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to Wade Into the Allegation againt the chairman and CEO of Airpeace Allen Onyema by the US Justice Department.

The South East NYCN made the call through a statement signed by its National Vice President, Prince Chibuike Echem.

“The attention of the South East Zone of the National Youth Council of Nigeria is being drawn to an allegation (in the form of charges) emanating from the US of money laundering by the Chairman and CEO of a Nigerian company (Air Peace), Mr Allen Ifechukwu Athan Onyema.

Whilst not seeking to present a rejoinder to the case at hand, or dispute in any manner the alleged claim by the US, also knowing fully well that legally speaking, an indictment is no verdict until a competent court of law affirms such, we wish to draw the attention of the Nigerian government to see the said allegation leveled against Mr Allen Onyema and Air Peace as a matter of dire national interest.

The company Air Peace is not only a Nigerian company but a brand in the Nigerian aviation sector. This company has assumed the status of becoming a formidable contributor to the GDP of Nigeria and the sustenance of Nigeria’s aviation sector.

The person and Nigerian citizen, Mr Onyema brings to remembrance his efforts in facilitating the bringing-back of stranded Nigerian citizens during the recent crisis in South Africa. His resolve to single-handedly fund this rescue effort (on behalf of the government of Nigeria) was applauded by all.

Mr Allen by dint of all these is considered a national asset and should not be left alone at this time of allegation against his person, his company and to a reasonable extent, the image of our great nation Nigeria.

The South East Zone of the National Youth Council of Nigeria on normal grounds would have chosen to disassociate itself from matters relating to the accusations against Mr Onyema, but when considering his numerous contributions to the well-being of our country and how any infringement on his rights could jeopardize what we consider an important contributor and asset of the economy of our great nation Nigeria, we are compelled to believe that he deserves some backing from the Nigerian state as he pleads his case against the allegations by the US authorities.

The South East Zone of the National Youth Council of Nigeria therefore calls on the Federal government of Nigeria to (as a matter of urgency), delve into the said accusations against the person on Mr Allen Onyema and his company Air Peace, using the goodness of State to make sure that whatever accusations leveled against this Nigerian citizen be given the best attention which would make possible a fair interrogation of matters relating to the accusation in a manner that would not infringe on the rights of Mr Allen Onyema or create a terrible blunder to Nigeria’s aviation industry and our economy in any manner whatsoever. The matter should be seen as a serious matter of national interest until it is legally resolved”. The statement read.

It will be recalled from our earlier report that Allen Onyeama was accused of Fraud and Money Laundering by the US Justice Department.
