PDP Rejects Ondo Governorship Election Results, Alleges Electoral Manipulation
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is reviewing the outcome of the Ondo governorship election, citing allegations of manipulation by the All Progressives Congress (APC). This decision was made by the PDP Governors’ Forum, which met in Jos, Plateau State, on Saturday.
According to Governor Bala Mohammed, chairman of the forum, the APC allegedly manipulated results and openly bought votes. The PDP governors are calling on the judiciary to intervene and save Nigerian democracy. They also want the National Assembly to review electoral laws to prevent future sabotage.
This development comes after Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the APC won the election by a landslide. The PDP governors have also expressed concerns about the Edo State governorship election, which they described as a “rape of democracy”.
The PDP governors are advocating for a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting by February 2025 to address the party’s lingering leadership crisis.
