Published

on

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has emphasized the benefits and efficiency of the newly launched electronic central motor registry (e-CMR) registration process. The e-CMR aims to enhance vehicle safety and security by integrating vehicle data for quick action on stolen vehicles.

Key Benefits

  • Real-time access to vehicle data for dedicated officers through their tablets
  • Prevention of multiple registrations
  • Contribution to the national security database
  • Digitalized policing for effectiveness and general safety of lives and property

Clarification

The NPF has clarified that the e-CMR is not a revenue-generating platform but an initiative to digitalize policing. The Inspector-General of Police has suspended the proposed enforcement of the e-CMR, initially scheduled for July 29, 2024, to allow for mass enlightenment and education.

Public Urged to Obtain Digitalized CMR Certificate

Members of the public can obtain the digitalized CMR certificate online at https://cmris.npf.gov.ng. Inquiries can be directed to the 24/7 hotline (02018870133) or technical support at cmrtech@npfcmr.ng.

Conclusion

The e-CMR initiative promises to curb vehicular crimes and enhance vehicle security. The NPF seeks the understanding and support of all Nigerians and residents to key into the e-CMR system.
