This month, July 2019 WakasnapNG in Abuja hosted Mayor Otu, an accomplished Documentary and Portrait Photographer from Lagos who is famously known for his lighting techniques on creating his ‘one image that tells the story’.

The engagement started with a Friday Nite workshop at Photocarrefour Studios where Mayor Otu shared his experience over the years as a photographer and also, his secret techniques to how he gets his stunning images.

The engagement continued with a Photowalk the next day in Jahi Village, Abuja where Mayor Otu shared practical tips on the field.

Since inception in Abuja in 2018, WakaSnap has organized four Photowalk sessions, including one in Niger State. The community has also had six workshops in Abuja, drawing the participation of photographers from states, like Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, Jos, and Niger.

WakaSnapNG is a community of advanced and beginner photographers, and the aim of this community is to bridge the gap between the two thereby, promoting the culture of learning, sharing and collaboration in the Nigerian Photography and creative industry. This is achieved by organizing free monthly workshops and photo walks to help the community members grow their passion for photography.

WakaSnapNG is currently self-funded by the founders, Abdulsalam Khalid Hamza, Alade Aderonke and Mudi Odibo.
