‘How can 2 wives leave you in less than 2 months?’ — Charly Boy mocks Ooni
Charles Oputa, Nigerian singer and activist better known as Charly Boy, has taunted the Ooni of Ife’s marriage crisis.
The ace singer also asked how two of the Osun monarch’s wives “could abandon him in less than two months”.
The palace of Adeyeye Ogunwusi was recently thrown into panic after Naomi Silekunola, his wife who bore him his only son, relinquished her queenship to announce their separation.
In her announcement, the queen wrote that she would no longer be regarded as the wife of the Ooni of Ife.
“His Majesty has a picture he would love the world to see and perceive him as and another one which is his true self,” Naomi had said.
“I, at this moment, announce that I shall no longer be referred to as wife to the Ooni of Ife or as queen of Ile-Ife, but as the queen of the people and mother of my adorable prince.”
In its reaction, the palace said the couple are still together while adding that it will commence an investigation to unravel if Naomi’s Instragam page was hacked.
Commenting on the marriage crisis, Charly Boy took to Instagram to raise questions as to what is wrong in the Ooni household.
“See this my fine bobo. How is it that, in less than 2 months, two of your wives just divorced and ran away from your kingdom? To add salt to injury, it’s on Instagram they divorced you,” the singer wrote in Pidgin English.
“All that glitters is not gold. My people, how do you all see this matter? How come wives just take off without notice? Is it good?”
The monarch was previously married to Adebukola Bambata and then Zaynab Wuraola Otiti before Naomi.
In 2008, the Ooni had tied the knot with Bombata but the union was reported to have ended over her inability to birth a son.
In March 2016, the monarch got married for a second time to Zaynab. The marriage ended with the queen’s application for divorce in August 2017.
