Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has strongly condemned the recent GOVERNORSHIP election in Edo State, describing it as a blatant example of “state capture” and a gross undermining of democratic processes and values.

In a statement posted on X, Obi expressed his disappointment and concern over the election’s outcome, stating that it does not represent the democratic process chosen by Nigerians.

Obi emphasized that any nation with a fatally flawed leadership recruitment process is doomed, and Nigeria is already experiencing the consequences.

He urged those in authority not to allow this situation to stand or depend on it to remain in power.

Obi reaffirmed his commitment to building a truly democratic Nigeria, where politics is not about capturing power but about saving the country and making it work for everyone, regardless of background.

The statement has sparked concerns about the state of Nigeria’s democracy and the need for urgent reforms to ensure free, fair, and credible elections.
