COVID-19: Three patients discharged in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Government through its Ministry of Health and the State Emergency Response team has discharged 6 persons from the hospital after they tested negative for Coronavirus.

This was announced on Wednesday 15th April, 20 by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dominic Ukpong while addressing journalist in Uyo, the State capital at the Ibom Specialist Hospital, the facility used as one of the isolation centres in the State.

According to Dr. Ukpong, earlier there were 9 patients on admission (4 suspected patients and the 5 confirmed patients).

The test result of one of the suspected patients turned out positive, the one announced by NCDC on Tuesday, 14th April 2020, while the results of 3 index cases came out negative.

Hence, the 3 suspected patients with negative results and 3 out of the original 5 patients have been discharged today.

The Commissioner further pleaded with Akwa Ibomites to adhere to instruction given by the government and health authorities in other to curb the spread of the virus which has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives across the globe.

Also, the discharge of the 6 persons marked by some celebration which saw a group of brass band instrumentalists playing live music at the hospital.
