Nigerian banking giant GTBank’s website, has been compromised by suspected cybercriminals, leaving customers unable to access the platform for transactions.

According to PEOPLES GAZETTE, the website’s domain address was compromised on August 14, 2024, just a day after it was renewed for another five years. The attackers have created a fake HTTP layer of the website, potentially allowing them to steal customer data through phishing.

GTBank’s customers have taken to social media to express their frustration, with many unable to conduct transactions. The bank’s representatives have urged customers to be patient and send their requests to a designated channel.

Fortunately, the bank’s mobile infrastructure and apps remain operational, allowing customers to continue conducting transactions through these platforms.

GTBank is yet to comment on the incident, which is currently under investigation. This is a developing story, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
