Bala Mohammed Urges Wike to Resign from PDP.

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has called on Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over alleged anti-party activities.

Mohammed accused Wike of effectively working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and suggested that he should formally join the APC. He dismissed Wike’s attempts to undermine his credibility, labeling them desperate and ineffective, noting that Nigerians can see through Wike’s alleged pretenses.

The Bauchi governor, during a Thursday address, criticized Wike as a “transactional politician” whose loyalty aligns only with his personal interests.

In response, Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, defended the minister, accusing Mohammed of being a self-serving politician and advising him to stop blaming Wike’s appointment by President Bola Tinubu for his failures as the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum.

However, in a counter-statement by his media adviser, Mukhtar Gidado, Mohammed condemned Wike’s comments as reckless and deceptive, attributing them to a decline in political relevance. He accused Wike of betraying several political allies, including Senator John Azuta Mbata, Dr. Peter Odili, and Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi.

Mohammed criticized Wike’s leadership style, describing him as a “use-and-dump” politician responsible for internal crises within the PDP, including orchestrating the removal of party leaders like Uche Secondus and Iyorchia Ayu.

The statement emphasized that while Wike is creating divisions within the PDP, the party remains united under Bala Mohammed’s leadership and is focused on rebuilding to challenge the APC in 2027.

It urged Wike to resign from the PDP and officially align with the APC, accusing him of being a willing tool for the ruling party. Mohammed concluded that Wike’s attacks were the desperate outbursts of a fading politician, insisting that governance should now take precedence over divisive antics.
