Argentina Kick Off Copa America with a Win Against Canada
Defending champions Argentina opened the 2024 Copa America with a 2-0 victory over Canada on Thursday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA.
Lionel Messi, who won his first major trophy with Argentina three years ago in this competition, will attempt to lead his team to their 16th Copa America title.
Canada, playing in their first-ever Copa America, was unable to secure a point in this match against the reigning World Cup champions.

The goals for Argentina in their 2-0 win over Canada in the Copa America 2024 were scored by Julian Alvarez and Lautaro Martinez .
Lionel Messi’s pass to Alexis Mac Allister created the first goal for Argentina, which was scored by Alvarez. Messi also set up Lautaro Martinez’s goal in the 88th minute, which sealed the win for Argentina.
Argentina’s next Copa America match will be against Chile on June 26 at MetLife Stadium.
