Adamawa: Boko Haram Strikes Hong Again, Destroys Property and Hoists Flags

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have once again attacked a community in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, wreaking havoc on properties.

According to reports from news men, the assault began around 10 pm on Friday and lasted until 3 am on Saturday. The terrorists reportedly stormed Dabna village in the Yadul/Dugwaba District, armed with dangerous weapons and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Eyewitnesses confirmed that the attackers destroyed houses and other valuables before raising their flag as a symbol of occupation.

Sources revealed that Garaha, a larger settlement located about three kilometers from Dabna, might also have fallen victim if not for the timely intervention of security forces, including military personnel, mobile police units, and local vigilantes who repelled the attackers.

This incident comes just three days after an earlier attack on Bangah, a suburb of Garaha near the Sambisa Forest bordering Borno State. That attack left seven people dead and resulted in the destruction of several houses and vehicles.

Dr. Raymond Chidama, a prominent resident of Dabna and the Adamawa State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed deep concern over the repeated assaults. He noted that the relentless attacks have instilled fear in the remaining locals, many of whom have fled and are unlikely to return soon.

Hong, located in northern Adamawa, remains one of the seven LGAs in the state most frequently targeted by Boko Haram since the insurgency began. The other affected LGAs include Madagali, Michika, Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, and Gombi.
