5 soldiers, 30 terrorists killed as Boko Haram attacks troops in Borno State

The Defence Headquarters confirmed that Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists launched a surprise attack on troops in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State, killing five soldiers, wounding ten, and declaring four missing.

The attack also resulted in the destruction of equipment, including a gun truck, three TCVs, and an excavator .

According to a military source, the insurgents launched multiple assaults in an attempt to overrun a special military force stationed in the Kareto community of Gubio LGA. The source revealed that the first attack occurred on August 16, resulting in the death of 18 soldiers and the neutralization of six insurgents .

The Borno State Government has expressed its condolences to the military and reaffirmed its solidarity with the armed forces in their efforts to end insurgency in the region .
