Viral Video Shows Gunmen Commander ‘Gentle the Yahoo’ Executing Subordinates in Imo State
A disturbing video circulating on social media has sparked outrage and fear after allegedly showing a notorious armed group commander in Imo State, known as “Gentle the Yahoo,” executing three of his own subordinates.
The viral footage, first shared on X (formerly Twitter), reportedly captures the commander accusing his men of robbing civilians in the Okigwe area instead of focusing on what he described as their “enemies.” The execution was said to have been carried out immediately after the accusations.
The incident has heightened concerns about rising brutality and internal power struggles within the armed groups operating in Imo State. Residents of Okigwe expressed shock, warning that the development further underscores the ruthlessness of criminal gangs and the worsening insecurity in the region.
“This is no longer just about attacks on security operatives or political targets. Now they are turning on themselves, and ordinary people remain trapped in fear,” one resident told reporters.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies have not released an official statement regarding the viral video or the reported killings.

The Imo State Police Command has intensified security operations in Okigwe Local Government Area following a deadly attack that claimed the lives of five residents in Ajanaumuna, Ezinachi community.
According to a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Okoye Henry, on Monday, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has deployed tactical teams in synergy with other security agencies and local vigilantes to track down the armed assailants, identified as suspected IPOB/ESN members.
The incident, which occurred on August 22, 2025, around 10:30 p.m., left five people dead, including a member of the local youth security team, Edeh George, and four villagers — Emeka Ezeagwula, Chikodi Ezeagwula, Chidi Chileke, and Ejike Nwankwo.
The attackers also set ablaze the residence of the youth security leader and destroyed five motorcycles. Police operatives later evacuated the victims to General Hospital, Okigwe, where doctors confirmed them dead on arrival. One survivor is currently receiving treatment.
CP Danjuma, who is personally leading the joint operation in Okigwe, condemned the killings and vowed that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
“No stone will be left unturned in ensuring those behind this heinous act face the full weight of the law,” the Commissioner stated.
He also prayed for the repose of the victims, wished the injured survivor a speedy recovery, and commiserated with the grieving families.
The Imo State Police Command urged residents to remain calm, assuring that security has been reinforced in Okigwe and surrounding communities. Citizens were further encouraged to support security agencies with credible information by reporting to the nearest police station or via 0803 477 3600.
