BONA NAIJAPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd), on Wednesday arrived at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) in Lagos to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The event, held at the NIIA headquarters, brought together regional leaders, diplomats, and stakeholders to reflect on five decades of ECOWAS’s contributions to regional integration, peace, and economic development.
Gowon, the only living founding father of ECOWAS, joined Tinubu, who currently serves as Chairman of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, to highlight the bloc’s achievements and challenges since its establishment in 1975.
