Billionaire businessman and father of popular singer Davido, Deji Adeleke, has made a stunning revelation about his contributions to Nigeria’s power sector.

Speaking at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church’s General Conference Annual Council 2024 on October 15th, Adeleke claimed that his company generates approximately 15% of Nigeria’s electricity.

“I’m in the electricity business, I own power plants. I generate about 15 per cent of Nigeria’s electricity. I’ve Chinese engineering companies that work for me. I am building the biggest thermal power plant in Nigeria to be launched in January 2025. It’s a 1250MW power plant,” Adeleke stated.

This is not the first time the Adeleke family has made such claims. Earlier in April, Davido appeared on an American podcast, ‘Business Untitled’, where he stated that his family owns four power plants, significantly contributing to Nigeria’s energy needs.

If Adeleke’s claims are accurate, his company would be one of the largest players in Nigeria’s power sector, contributing significantly to the country’s electricity generation capacity.

Nigeria’s total installed electricity generation capacity stands at around 13,000 MW, according to the Nigerian National Bureau of Statistics.
