Ubi Franklin Breaks Silence on Luxury Watch Theft Rumours

Published

on

Talent manager Ubi Franklin has addressed allegations circulating on social media that he stole a luxury wristwatch from renowned jeweler Benny the Jeweler.

The claims, which went viral earlier this week, alleged that Franklin left Miami in possession of a watch without paying for it. In a detailed statement, Franklin dismissed the rumours as “completely false and misleading,” explaining the events that led to the misunderstanding.

According to Franklin, Benny initially offered to sell him a wristwatch, but after confirming its previous ownership, he declined to buy it to avoid potential complications. Later, during a wedding service he attended in Miami, Benny sent his brother to deliver another watch, which Franklin said he purchased and paid for in full.

FIRS

Due to the busy nature of the wedding and his travel schedule — compounded by preparations for his sister’s funeral — Franklin said he inadvertently left Miami with both watches. He only realised this when Benny contacted him while he was airborne.

“I want to state clearly: I am not a thief. I have never stolen from anyone in my life. I purchased a wristwatch and paid in full from Benny,” Franklin said, noting that Benny had already debunked the theft claims earlier in the day.

Full Statement

“IMPORTANT.
I am currently aware of the recent circulation on social media linking my name to an alleged theft. I wish to make it clear that these allegations are completely false and misleading.

Recently, I returned from my dear Friend/sister’s wedding and I am currently preparing for my sister’s funeral this coming weekend. It is an extremely difficult and sensitive time for me and my family, but I feel it is important to address this matter directly.

While in Miami, Benny met me and offered to sell me a wristwatch. After reviewing the item and confirming its previous ownership, I decided not to purchase it in order to avoid any potential complications. I clearly communicated that him.

During the wedding church service, Benny sent his brother with another wristwatch to me .that which I had purchased and paid in full.
Given the busy circumstances surrounding the wedding, I was in possession of both wristwatches and wore the one he sent to me through his brother.

After the wedding, I had to leave Miami immediately to finialize my sister’s funeral coming up this weekend. While airborne, I was contacted by Benny regarding the other wristwatch.

I want to state clearly: I am not a thief. I have never stolen from anyone in my life. I purchased a wristwatch and paid in full from Benny.
Benny had earlier in the day debunked this news and yet it still kept spreading.
I appreciate the calls and messages🙏🏿
This is my final word on this.”

Afrobeats star Davido also weighed in, stating that Franklin owed no one an explanation over the matter.

Franklin concluded his statement by thanking friends and supporters for their messages and assuring that this would be his “final word on the issue.”
