BONA NAIJAPresident Bola Tinubu has approved the dissolution of the Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, including its chairman, Ambassador Greg Ozumba Mbadiwe, and members Hafiz Oladejo, Augustine Onyedebelu, Engr. Amioleran Osahon, and Rtd. Gen. Funsho Oyeneyin.
The decision also includes the removal of Prof. Bernard Ifeanyi Odoh as the Vice-Chancellor and Mrs Rosemary Ifoema Nwokike as the registrar of the university.
According to Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, the dissolution was due to the Council’s illegal appointment of an unqualified vice-chancellor without following due process ¹.
Additionally, Tinubu approved the removal of Engr. Ohieku Muhammed Salami as the Pro-chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Health Sciences in Otukpo, Benue State, due to his illegal actions and refusal to comply with the Federal Ministry of Education’s directives.
Tinubu warned university councils not to create distractions, as his government focuses on improving the country’s education standards.
