In response to the concerns, CAF and FIFA reportedly considered moving the tie to the Dr Molemela Stadium, only to reverse the decision and eventually clear the Free State Stadium to host today’s match.
Super Eagles Hit by Osimhen Absence
Adding to Nigeria’s worries, the Super Eagles will be without their talismanic striker, Victor Osimhen, who has been sidelined by a shin injury. His absence leaves Tolu Arokodare with the responsibility of leading the attack and delivering the goals Nigeria needs to stay alive in the group.
Currently, the Super Eagles sit outside the top two in Group C, meaning a win in Bloemfontein is vital to reignite their qualification campaign. A defeat, however, could deal a heavy blow to their hopes of reaching the 2026 World Cup.
