Lagos Killings: Stop Harassing and Killing Ndigbo – NYCN South East Zone warns

The South East Leadership of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN has called on the Federal Government and Lagos state government to look into the alleged killing and harassment of Ndigbo in Lagos during the elections last saturday.

The Apex youth body made the call through a press statement signed its National vice president South East zone, Prince Chibuike Echem . He called on security agencies to investigate the killings and bring those responsible to book.

The statements reads;

The attention of the National Youth Council of Nigeria South East Zone have been drawn to the massive killings and attack on Ndigbo and the disenfranchisement of Ndigbo in the ongoing Presidential and National Assembly elections in Lagos State.

We wish to call on the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Lagos State government, all relevant security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to quickly investigate the killings of Ndigbo in Lagos, and bring the individuals involved no matter how highly placed to book.

We strongly believe that every Nigerian irrespective of of state of origin should be given the opportunity to demonstrate their civic responsibilities without fear or favour, especially in electing the leaders of our great country.

We also wish to call on the Chairman of South East governors forum and the entire South East governors to quickly investigate this situation and urgently interven and protect the interest of Ndigbo.

We want to use this platform to call on our people in Lagos State to stay calm and be law abiding, as we strongly believe that the authorities will do the needful, even as INEC will provide them safe environment to cast their votes for any candidate of their choice.
