Popular Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Raji Adetola, widely known as Mr Sanku Comedy, has been confirmed dead following a fatal car accident along the Oyo–Ogbomoso road in Ibadan on Monday.

The tragic incident was first confirmed by Nollywood actress Funmi Awelewa, who revealed she had sent one of her students to check on him at Bowen Hospital after hearing the news online.

According to eyewitness reports circulating on social media, the comedian’s vehicle plunged into a ditch. Funmi Awelewa expressed her grief in an emotional Instagram post, recalling how she was initially told Sanku was responding to treatment:

“When I saw the news online, I quickly sent one of my students who stays close to Bowen hospital, and he told me that he met one of your friends at the hospital who told us that you’re responding to treatment. I prayed……God, we prayed!!! Kilowa de bai Oloun, Haa Olorun oba oo.”

Despite fervent prayers, she confirmed that the fast-rising comedian sadly did not survive.
