Pete Edochie Endorses His Son, Yul For 2023 Presidency

Legendary Nigerian actor, Pete Edochie, has endorsed his son, Yul, for the 2023 presidential race.

Yul broke the news in a video shared on his social media pages on Thursday.“My father, Chief Pete Edochie, backs my presidential ambition for 2023 … Almighty God, take absolute control,” the post titled.

In the less than 3 minute footage, Pete revealed that the endorsement follows the incessant pleas of young people asking him to openly endorse his son’s candidacy for the highest political office in the country.

The veteran actor also expressed confidence that his son possesses the right values ​​and drive to move the country forward.

He said that while he is not interested in politics, he would not stop his support for Yul, who has decided to delve into it.

“My values ​​are very strong. I have my own children and they are also very strong in that regard. I’m not one to get involved in politics. But you see, not all your children are obliged to follow you, ”he said.

“One of my sons, who by the way is an actor, has decided that he wants to be a politician. Most of the young people have been tapping my phone asking me to support my son, they want him as president and it amuses me. But they keep insisting dad, we want Yul to be the president of this country.

“We like. He is disciplined, understanding, believes in people a lot. They have bothered me so much that today, I hereby present it to you. You have my blessing. You have my backing.

“Any day he decides to deviate from the discipline he was raised under, I will withdraw him from the race. You will be fine son. Since it has been his ambition to enter politics and the desire to run for the presidency of this country, may the good Lord help him, protect him and direct him ”.

In 2018, the actor-turned-politician had declared an interest in running for president in the 2019 elections under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) party platform.

He subsequently abandoned ambition, a decision that, according to him, was reached “after due consultation.”

Before his presidential candidacy, he had run for governor of Anambra state in 2017 under the banner of the Democratic Peoples Congress (DPC), but lost after garnering just 145 votes.

Yul was appointed Senior Special Assistant in Creative Media and Entertainment to Willie Obiano, Governor of Anambra State, in 2018.

The actor, however, resigned a few months later and defected from the APGA to join the Popular Democratic Party (PDP), stating that his decision was in an attempt to support the presidential ambition of former vice president Atiku Abubakar, who was the candidate of Party.

Earlier this year, Yul re-declared his interest in running for Nigeria’s highest office in 2023.
