At least 10 people have been killed in a fresh attack on five communities in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

This incident occurred just six days after a similar assault in Ruwi, where gunmen shot 10 people dead and injured three others during a wake-keeping ceremony.

Confirming the attack on Thursday, the Chairman of the Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC), Farmasum Fuddang, described how the assailants carried out their attacks.

According to him, “The attacks happened on Wednesday, affecting five villages. It began in Mongor, where security forces repelled the attackers. They then moved to Daffo but were once again driven back by security personnel. Undeterred, the attackers proceeded to Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai villages, where they launched further assaults.”

A statement from the BCDC chairman noted, “In just one week, we have lost over 20 community members due to these terrorists. On April 2 alone, more than 10 people were killed.

“We appreciate the swift response of the Nigerian military and police, which helped reduce the number of casualties.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims of the attacks in Ruwi, Mangor, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai. We also urge emergency response agencies such as NEMA, SEMA, and the Nigerian Red Cross to provide urgent relief to the displaced and injured.”

Reports indicate that the attacks have forced many residents of the affected villages and neighboring communities to flee for safety.

Reacting to the tragic events, the Plateau State Government strongly condemned the assaults on Mangor Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna (Tagai), Hurti, and Tadai on the night of April 2, 2025.

Commissioner for Information, Joyce Ramnap, expressed the government’s condolences to the affected communities and appealed for calm.

“I extend the state government’s deepest sympathies to the victims of the recent invasions in Ruwi, Mangor, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai.

“I urge citizens to remain calm and vigilant while maintaining peace. We commend the security forces for their response and call on them to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous act are brought to justice,” the commissioner stated.
