**Uncertainty in Osun as Governor Adeleke, Davido Visit President Tinubu**
Amid mounting political uncertainty in Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke paid a high-profile courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his Lagos residence on Tuesday.
The visit comes in the wake of the Federal Government’s recent suspension of allocations to local government areas in Osun, following a legal impasse over the legitimate leadership of the councils. The conflict stems from competing claims by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding control of the local councils.
A legal opinion issued by the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Lateef Fagbemi, favored the sacked APC-aligned local government chairmen, prompting the central government to withhold funds pending resolution of the crisis.
Although no official statement has been issued from either the Presidency or the Adeleke family detailing the purpose of the meeting, sources close to the matter suggest that the Osun political deadlock and Governor Adeleke’s future political alignment may have been key discussion points.
The Adelekes and President Bola Tinubu
Adding to the speculation, Governor Adeleke was accompanied by his elder brother, prominent businessman Chief Adedeji Adeleke, and his nephew, international music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.
The visit was publicly confirmed by Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, who shared images from the meeting on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu receives in audience H.E. Ademola Adeleke, the Executive Governor of Osun State, along with Chief Adedeji Adeleke and his son, Afrobeats icon Davido, at his Lagos residence.”
Governor Adeleke also acknowledged the meeting in a post on his verified X handle, describing it as a Sallah courtesy call.
“This evening, alongside the scion of the Adeleke dynasty, my big brother, Dr. Deji Adeleke and my nephew, whom we are immensely proud of, David Adeleke, popularly known as @davido we paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his Lagos residence ahead of the Sallah celebration.”
Political observers view the visit as significant, especially amid rumors that Governor Adeleke could be considering a move to the APC ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election. The closed-door nature of the meeting has only fueled further speculation.
For now, the people of Osun await clarity on the leadership tussle and whether this high-level engagement will influence the political landscape in the state.
