Kidnapped Former Enugu SSG, UNN Students Regain Freedom
Dr. Dan Shere, former Secretary to the Enugu State Government, has been released by his kidnappers.
On Thursday, the medical doctor was kidnapped along with several other commuters. On Sunday, the same thugs kidnapped several students from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN.
Also set free were some students of University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, who were also kidnapped along the Ugwogo /Nsukka road.
Shere and the other captives were rescued on Saturday evening, which caused excitement throughout the entire town of Nsukka.
It is still unknown how much money was paid to secure his release. The Enugu State Government, on the other hand, moved bulldozers into the area Saturday morning, clearing the dense forest.
In a statement, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo warned of a collaboration between the kidnappers and some security operatives.
According to the apex Igbo group, this is one of the revelations made by some of the victims who were freed from the kidnappers’ den.
It demanded that top security officials in the state, including the army and police, be redeployed.
