Federal Government Suspends Prison Chiefs Over Bobrisky’s Alleged Bribe

Following viral reports on allegation that popular cross-dresser, Idris Okeneye, widely known as Bobrisky, bribed prison officers and their counterparts in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Federal Government suspended two senior officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

In a statement by the secretary to the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, Ja’afaru Ahmed, on Thursday, September 26, the suspension follows the viral video on social media regarding the alleged corruption involving the officers.

The suspended officers are Michael Anugwa, deputy controller of corrections (DCC), in charge of Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kirikiri, Lagos State; and Sikiru Adekunle, deputy controller of corrections (DCC), in charge of Maximum-Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kiri-kiri, Lagos State.

According to the statement, the board also suspended the head of the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) in Afikpo, Ebonyi State, and the Kuje Correctional Service, Abuja, Ogbule Samuel Obinna, and Iloafonsi Kevin Ikechukwu, respectively, over alleged corruption.

The board said the officers suspension was to give room for more investigation on the issue.

“The Board has suspended ASC II Ogbule Samuel Obinna, serving at the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Afikpo, Ebonyi State, for allegedly accompanying a convicted inmate out of the Custodial Centre to a location outside the facility.

BONA NAIJA reports that Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, had shared a video on social media stating that Bobrisky gave some EFCC officers 15 million naira to drop the money laundering charges against him.

In the trending video, VeryDarkMan also alleged that Bobrisky paid millions of naira to some senior prison officers to enable him to stay outside the prison after he was sentenced to six months imprisonment for spraying naira notes.

Although Bobrisky has denied the allegations, EFCC invited him and the Otse for investigation on the issue.
