The commotion, which drew the attention of travellers and airport staff, was eventually brought under control after police officers intervened.
Reacting to the incident, Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), linked the confrontation to the passenger’s refusal to comply with crew instructions.
“When cabin crew ask you to turn off your phone before takeoff or landing, simply comply. I can’t understand why simple routine issues would lead to incidents like this,” Achimugu wrote on X late Sunday. “Passengers need to understand they have responsibilities, not just rights. More details will be addressed tomorrow.”
The episode comes just days after the NCAA handed a six-month flight ban to Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM1, over alleged in-flight misconduct.
