Speaking to journalists during the donation at Enugu State government house, the state chairman, Izuolisa Onu said the support became neccesary at a time when all the food items donated to the masses are mainly carbohydrates.
“We saw that most of the palliatives (food items) shared to the people were mostly carbohydrates; rice, yam, noodles and basically no protein which is very important for the human body. It helps build immune system which is key in our fight against COVID-19.
“Today, Enugu State poultry association being one of the topmost commodity associations, we decided to work with our government to ensure that people in Enugu State especially the needy and less privileged that don’t have access to these things get an egg and some chicken to supplement whatever the government will equally give them.
“This gesture is aside what our members are doing in their various host communities,” Mr. Onu said.
