According to sources, Adetshina faced xenophobic backlash and citizenship investigations in South Africa, prompting her decision to leave the competition. Despite the challenges, she has been given a new opportunity to shine on the international stage, representing her father’s native Nigeria.
“I am thrilled to join the Miss Universe Nigeria family and showcase my Nigerian heritage,” Adetshina said in a statement.
The Miss Universe Nigeria organization welcomed Adetshina, emphasizing her potential to make a significant impact in the pageantry world.
Adetshina’s participation in Miss Universe Nigeria sets the stage for a potential showdown with Miss South Africa winner Mia le Roux at the Miss Universe competition in November.
