Charles Ogbu Raises Accountability Concerns Over Gov. Peter Mbah’s Spending in Enugu

Nigerian activist Charles Ogbu has accused Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah of mismanaging public resources, alleging that more than ₦1.4 trillion received and generated by the state since May 2023 has not translated into basic services.

Ogbu in a facebook post, cited official data from FAAC, the Debt Management Office, and state revenue reports, said the government has received ₦923 billion in federal allocations, borrowed ₦96.7 billion, and generated ₦384.5 billion in internally generated revenue.

He criticised spending on projects such as “Smart Schools,” water schemes, and agriculture, alleging inflated contracts and lack of accountability. Ogbu also raised concerns over the acquisition of 30,000 hectares of land for agricultural ventures.

Governor Mbah’s office has yet to respond to the allegations.
