Champions League: “It has happened many times” – Ancelotti optimistic about comeback against Arsenal

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has voiced confidence that his team can stage a comeback known in Spanish as a remontada against Arsenal in their upcoming Champions League clash.

The term remontada, meaning “the comeback,” gained global attention after Barcelona’s historic 6-1 win over PSG in 2017. Despite losing the first leg 4-0, the Spanish side pulled off a stunning turnaround at Camp Nou to progress on a 6-5 aggregate.

Real Madrid are now in a similar predicament, having lost 3-0 to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg last week.

This season, Los Blancos have not shown consistent form in Europe and needed a playoff victory over Manchester City to reach the knockout stage.

Speaking on Saturday, April 12 quoted by Madrid Xtra Ancelotti remained determined, stating that Madrid would battle to the final whistle.

“Remontada? We will try. It has happened many times. We’ll fight until the very last minute,” Ancelotti told reporters during a press conference.

In LaLiga, Madrid trail Barcelona in the title race, currently sitting second after 30 matches. They’ve already lost twice to their rivals this season and are set to face them again in the Copa del Rey final later this month.

Arsenal are also in second place in the Premier League, 11 points adrift of leaders Liverpool with seven matches left in the season.
