The Senate has confirmed the appointment of 11 Supreme Court justices nominated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to fill vacancies on the apex court bench.
The confirmation followed the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters’ consideration and adoption of a report.

The nominees, recommended by the National Judicial Council to fill vacant positions, include justices from various regions.
With this confirmation, the Supreme Court now has the required 21 justices.
Senators expressed concern over the delay in appointments and suggested prompt replacement for future vacancies.
Additionally, concerns were raised about the budget allocation for the judiciary in the 2024 budget, with a call for a review to enhance effectiveness.
