Australia Open 2020: Japanese Naomi Osaka emerges Women Singles champion

Naomi Osaka of Japan, has won a 4th grand slam title and her 2nd Australia Open.

The 22-year-old Japanese defeated the 22nd seed American Jennifer Brady 6-4, 6-3 in the women’s singles final at Melbourne Park on Saturday, to emerge champion taking her winning streak to 21 since returning to action in August 2020.

Naomi got off to a flying start in the 1st set taking a 3-1 lead after the fourth game, but a determined Jennifer, playing in her first ever grand slam final, responded by taking the next two games to level score at 3-3.

But the Japanese, was not going to give in, as she pushed back relying on her 1st serve, to take the lead and rounded off the set which lasted forty one minutes in the tenth game when jennifer failed to save a break point.

The Japanese never looked back from here and raised to a 4-lov lead in the second set, as Jennifer began to get frustrated with her inconsistent first serve.

However the young American made attempt to rekindle a come back when she broke Naomi in the fifth game and held serve at 4-2.

The seventh game of the second set saw the longest rally of the match, which saw Jennifer picked the point, but Naomi won the game.

The Japanese remained focused holding on to win the match 6-4 6-3.

Attention shifts next to the men Singles Final on sunday as top seed and defending Champion Novak Djokovic, chases a 9th title at melbourne park but standing in his way is Danil Medvedev.
