Atalanta coach blasts Ademola Lookman for Champions League ouster
Atalanta coach has blamed Ademola Lookman for the team’s sensational ouster from the UEFA Champions League after his game-defining penalty was saved by the Club Brugge goalkeeper.
“Lookman was not supposed to take that penalty, he is one of the worst penalty takers I’ve ever seen,” said Gian Piero Gasperini.
“He has a frankly terrible record even in training, he converts very few of them. Retegui and De Ketelaere were there, but Lookman in a moment of enthusiasm after scoring decided to take the ball and that was a gesture I did not appreciate at all.”

Ademola Lookman made an instant impact when he came off the bench to pull a goal Tuesday night.
However, soon after his goal Atalanta were awarded a penalty after Juan Cuadrado was brought down inside the box.
The Super Eagles striker stepped forward for the spot kick only for Club Brugge goalkeeper Simon Mignolet to keep out the effort.
It would also be recalled that Ademola Lookman famously missed a penalty for Fulham against West Ham in stoppage time in November 2020.
