Arsenal Close to Sealing £50m Deal for Chelsea Winger Noni Madueke
Arsenal are on the verge of completing a £50 million deal to sign Noni Madueke from Chelsea, with personal terms on a five-year contract reportedly agreed in principle.
The 23-year-old winger, who joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 for £29 million, made 45 appearances for the Blues last season, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists. He has featured 91 times for the club overall, with his current contract running until 2030.
Despite playing primarily on the right wing, Arsenal have identified Madueke as a potential option for the left flank, where they’ve been actively seeking reinforcements. The Gunners also remain interested in Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, although the Brazilian is valued at around £69 million significantly more than Madueke.
Chelsea’s need to balance their finances following heavy summer spending, including the signings of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, and Jamie Gittens, has opened the door for potential departures. Club sources suggest that while Madueke is not officially listed for sale, the Blues are open to reasonable offers due to UEFA’s squad cost regulations ahead of the next Champions League season.
Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol reports that Madueke has remained focused amid transfer speculation, performing well during Chelsea’s recent FIFA Club World Cup appearances, including substitute roles against Fluminense and Palmeiras.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly been impressed by Madueke’s direct style and versatility. However, questions remain over his effectiveness on the left wing. He failed to record a goal or assist in seven starts on that side last season, though Chelsea won six of those matches.
As things stand, all signs point to Madueke becoming Arsenal’s next summer signing, adding depth and competition to a frontline already boasting Bukayo Saka and rising star Ethan Nwaneri.
