Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed the recent coalition talks involving the African Democratic Congress (ADC), calling it a calculated move by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to secure a presidential ticket outside the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking during his monthly media chat on Arise TV, which was monitored by BONA NAIJA, Wike stated that Atiku’s history of “jumping from one party to another” in pursuit of the presidency is well known, and his alignment with the ADC further confirms his desperation.
“The so-called coalition ultimately boils down to the presidential ticket,” Wike said. “Atiku knows he cannot secure the PDP ticket, so he’s already preparing his backup with the ADC.”
Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and a key PDP stakeholder, has been a vocal critic of Atiku in recent times, especially following the fallout from the 2023 elections and internal party disputes.
The Minister also reiterated that political movements lacking clarity and cohesion will not withstand Nigeria’s current political terrain, hinting that any such coalition will likely fizzle out before the 2027 elections.
