Abuja school graduates 84 students

An Abuja based school, Glisten international Academy, on Saturday held its 10th graduation ceremony where 84 of its students graduated from various departments of its secondary school.ã

The theme of the graduation’s “ Lending credence to our future through technology and digital space’’, in attendance were family and friends who came to celebrate with their wards.

The Chief Executive Officer of the school, Mrs Samira Jibir in her welcome address congratulated the graduating students for persevering in hard work and resilience to experience a day like this.

Jibir, in her remarks referred to the years spent by the student in secondary school as “years of legacy’’ on which they will build their future.

She praised them for their critical thinking, collaboration, perseverance, resilience, commitment and having the fear of God.

She noted that they now have a freedom of many choices which would shape their future and deliver their goals.She disclosed that the future of work and education is overridden by digital technology and urged the students to continue to be heroes and not victims.

“Continue to be flag bearers of all the skills that you have learnt here.

“Know what the future of work is and let skills like enterprise, problem solving, critical thinking always be your ethics,’’ she said.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of gifts and awards to students who performed excellently and were outstanding for their hard work and dedication.

One of the graduating students, Musa Shaba who said he hoped to become a software engineer got over 7 awards in different categories and the star prize award for outstanding academic excellence.

Shaba , who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said he was excited to be the best graduating student and advised students in general to take their academic work seriously.

Another student, Aisha MaiBornu, while speaking to NAN disclosed that she was just happy to be through with secondary school and take on the next stage of  her academic life.

MaiBornu who hoped to be an Architect encouraged students of other classes to be very focused and not let anything or anyone deter them from attaining their potential.

Some parents who spoke to NAN in separate interviews expressed their gratitude to God for the wonderful end of the secondary education of their wards.

Abdusallam Shaba, father to one of the graduating student reminisced on how the journey that brought his son this far started and expressed gratitude to God.

“My son has made us proud and he also took after his elder brother who graduated from here and has been making us proud.
“I urge all parents to start education with their wards from home and give maximum support in all areas to them,’’ he said.

David Musa, an uncle to one of the graduating students wished all of them more academic success and excellence.

Musa stressed the need for parents to prayerfully nurture for their children and be an example for them to emulate.

The Executive Director of the school, Mr. Abba Saida noted that what stood students of the school out from their counterpart was “ the glisten effect.’’

Saida explained that the glisten effect was an embodiment of “hard work, good character and innovative skills which was being instilled in the students would help them carry on in the world.
He stated that the school was outstanding for academic excellence and provided great support for all its students to become heroes and leaders in their chosen fields.
He noted that students of glisten have been trained in leadership, character and academic excellence to be able to compete globally with their counterparts.

” I want to tell the graduating students that a big world is waiting for their talents and innovations,’’ he said.
