The Rice Boys defeated Ikorodu City 5-4 on penalties
Abakaliki FC, also known as “The Rice Boys,” has made history by reaching the Federation Cup final for the first time ever. The NNL side defeated Ikorodu City 5-4 on penalties after a goalless draw in the semifinal.
The Ebonyi-based team has received a N5 million reward from Ebonyi FA chairman, Obinna Ogba, for their achievement. This is in addition to previous rewards of N2 million each for eliminating Enyimba and Nasarawa United in earlier rounds.
Abakaliki FC will now face Kwara United in the 2025 Federation Cup final. Ogba has promised a bigger gift if the team emerges victorious in the tournament. The team’s historic run has been rewarded with cash gifts, boosting their morale ahead of the final match.
