Tyson, who was once the undisputed world heavyweight champion, looked weathered and aged throughout the fight. Despite his efforts, he was unable to land any significant blows on Paul, who cruised through the remaining rounds with little effort.
The fight was met with a muted atmosphere, with many in attendance booing in the final rounds. The result was seen as a foregone conclusion, with many criticizing the matchup as a “manufactured mismatch” .
Tyson himself seemed to acknowledge the reality of the situation, stating in a pre-fight interview that “legacy means absolutely nothing” to him. He also expressed his disdain for the concept of leaving a lasting legacy, saying “I’m just passing through. I’m gonna die and it’s gonna be over. Who cares about legacy after that?” .
