Yobe state Governor Mai Mala Buni has promised to partner with the National park services to protect its natural resources.
The Governor gave assurance when he received the Assistant Conservator General, National park headquarters Abuja, Dr. Mohammed Abba Kura Kabir at the government House Damaturu.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy Idi Barde Gubana explained that the newly employed forest guards in the state would enhance biodiversity conservation and improve security challenges in the ungoverned areas especially at Borno and Yobe boarder.
He appealed to the heads of security agencies to encourage the forest guards and liaise with the National park to guarantee their safety and avoid clash while at work, considering the nature of their work in Bush.
He assured that Government would provide the necessary support for the successful operations of the forest guards in the state.
The Assistant Conservator General, National park service Abuja, Dr. Mohammed Abba Kabir said that the team was in the state to assess the training of the newly recruited forest guards in the state.
He commended the effort of Yobe state Government for the support rendered to the delegation from the Nigeria National park service Abuja during their assessment exercises.
He solicited for the provision of administrative offices, utility vehicles and collaboration with the head of security agencies in the state to ease thier job.
Also the special adviser on security matters and Brigade commander, 27 armored Brigade command, indicated their commitment to work with the forest guards in their activities to ensure safety and control of borderline operations.
