Victor Osimhen’s 20th goal of the season couldn’t save Galatasaray from crashing out of the Europa League. Despite a 2-2 draw with AZ Alkmaar at the RAMS Park, Galatasaray’s 6-3 aggregate defeat sealed their fate.

The Turkish side faced an uphill battle after AZ Alkmaar’s 4-1 win in the first leg. Galatasaray dominated possession but struggled to create clear-cut chances. AZ Alkmaar, on the other hand, remained solid and countered with menace, scoring through Seiya Maikuma and Denso Kasius .

Osimhen’s powerful volley in the 57th minute sparked hopes of a comeback, but it wasn’t enough. Rolland Sallai’s equalizer in the 70th minute made it 2-2 on the night, but Galatasaray still needed three more goals to force extra time .

Galatasaray will now focus on their Super Lig campaign, facing second-placed Fenerbahçe in their next match. AZ Alkmaar, meanwhile, will await the round of 16 draw, where they’ll face either Tottenham or Manchester United .
