Two Pastors Freed After Attack on Worshippers in Kogi

The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of two pastors who were among the victims of last Friday’s attack on worshippers at the Akpamoba-Igbola prayer mountain in Agbaja, Lokoja Local Government Area.

According to the command’s spokesperson, ASP William Aya, the rescued individuals have been identified as Pastors Adura Kayode and Kingsley Ebong from the City of Grace Prophetic Liberation Church. He added that the pastors have been safely reunited with their families, while security operatives continue to comb the surrounding forest in search of other abducted worshippers.

Lokoja Local Government Council Chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, has urged the security agencies to intensify efforts to clear the forest of criminal elements and restore peace. Through a statement by his Special Adviser, Yusuf Bala, he appealed to residents to remain calm, assuring them that the authorities are actively pursuing the perpetrators.

The incident occurred during a night vigil last Friday, when armed assailants suspected to be kidnappers stormed the mountain, abducting several worshippers. With the latest rescue, the total number of freed victims now stands at three, including a woman, Mary Adams Gur, who was rescued on the night of the attack by local vigilantes.
