Tinubu Tells Supreme Court Atiku Submitted Fake Certificates To INEC

President Bola Tinubu has filed a counter-appeal at the Supreme Court, levelling serious accusations of certificate forgery against his political rival, Atiku Abubakar.

In the suit, President Tinubu alleged that Atiku submitted fake certificates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), casting doubts on the authenticity of the former vice president’s academic qualifications.The allegations put forth by President Tinubu claim that Atiku used different names on two key academic certificates.

According to the president’s legal team, Atiku is said to have used the name “Atiku Kojoli” on his primary school certificate and the name “Siddiq Abubakar” on his 1965 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) certificate.

Atiku while admitting the different name in his WASSCE result, said he regularised it via an affidavit before joining the civil service.The move is in response to Atiku’s earlier suit at the Supreme Court, where he accused the president of presenting a forged Chicago State University diploma certificate to INEC before the 2023 elections.

While the Chicago State University in a deposition made in US court said the certificate Tinubu submitted to the electoral body was not issued by them while in the same breath, said the President graduated from their institute.
