President Bola Tinubu has made some significant changes at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited. He’s sacked the entire board, including Group Chief Executive Officer Mele Kyari and board chairman Pius Akinyelure. The decision, which takes effect immediately, aims to enhance operational efficiency, restore investor confidence, and make NNPC more commercially viable.

Bayo Ojulari is the new Group CEO, replacing Kyari, while Ahmadu Musa Kida takes over as the non-executive chairman. Adedapo Segun has been confirmed as the company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The new board also includes six non-executive directors representing each geopolitical zone, as well as representatives from the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

The changes according to Bayo Onanuga are part of President Tinubu’s efforts to reposition NNPC Limited for greater productivity and alignment with global best practices. The new board has been tasked with reviewing NNPC-operated and Joint Venture Assets to ensure alignment with value maximisation objectives .
