Super Falcons forward Omorinsola Babajide has officially signed with Italian Serie A Women’s club AS Roma, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in her career.
The Giallorosse announced the deal on their website, confirming that the 26-year-old Nigerian attacker has joined the club on a free transfer after her contract with Spanish side UD Tenerife expired in May.
Babajide, a dynamic and versatile winger, expressed her joy over the move via her official X (formerly Twitter) account:
“Happy to finally announce that I’ve signed for @ASRomaFemminile. I’m so excited to see what we can achieve together. Back in red and ready for this incredible new chapter. Grateful to God for guiding me through every step of this journey. My heart is full, especially having my mum beside me along the way.”
She also thanked her representation agency, BePlayer, for facilitating the transfer, adding, “Can’t wait to get started & see you all.”
The London-born forward now becomes the second Nigerian international at Roma, joining fellow Super Falcons teammate Shukurat Oladipo. She will wear the No. 30 jersey at her new club.
Babajide is currently representing Nigeria at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco and is expected to link up with her Roma teammates after the tournament concludes.
Her arrival is seen as a boost to AS Roma’s attacking options as they prepare for another competitive campaign in Serie A and European competitions. Babajide has previously played for clubs including Liverpool, Brighton, Real Betis, and most recently Tenerife.
